The 2024 Family Planning Impact Investment Calculator (FPIIC) produces estimates for 128 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This is the same set of countries utilized by the Adding It Up 2024 analysis (to be released in early 2025).
These countries are classified by the World Bank as being LMICs on the basis of their having a 2023 per capita GNI of $US14,005 or less. These classifications are based on the World Bank Country and Lending Groups Classification for the 2025 fiscal year. The Adding It Up analysis excludes the following LMICs because they did not have United Nations (UN) population or birth data: Dominica, Marshall Islands, and Tuvalu. In addition, per UN World Population Prospects classifications, Kosovo was combined with Serbia for all calculations.
Countries that are included in the 2019 Adding It Up Project and are now excluded from the 2024 FPIIC and Adding It Up Project are: Bulgaria, Guyana, Romania, and the Russian Federation. These countries were previously classified as LMICs in 2019, but are now classified as high-income countries.
