Krystal Leaphart joined the Guttmacher Institute in 2024 as Senior Policy Associate for State Partnerships. In this role, she pilots and implements new approaches to building partnerships and collaborations with state advocates. Previously, she served as the Senior Policy Analyst at Reproductive Health Impact, where she provided strategic support in developing and executing federal, state and local policy and advocacy priorities. Before that, she was the Senior Policy Analyst at the National Birth Equity Collaborative, where she created policy and advocacy solutions that optimized Black maternal, infant and sexual health. Ms. Leaphart also served in various capacities at the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women, an organization supporting legislators that champion Black maternal health, abortion access and reproductive justice issues. In her personal capacity, she is an active member of Black Girls Vote, Higher Heights for America PAC and Black Feminist Future. She attended Howard University to pursue a BA in sociology.
