Kirsten Sherk is the Director of Global Communications, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a communications strategist in global reproductive health. She joins Guttmacher from FP2030, where she guided the communications strategy through organizational transition and decentralization. Prior to joining FP2030, she was Director of Global Communications at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW). Ms. Sherk joined ICRW after a decade as senior advisor for media strategies at Ipas, where she developed media strategies to elevate public awareness of abortion as a public health and human rights issue. While there, she co-produced with filmmaker Lisa Russell the documentary short Not Yet Rain. She honed her skills at the Communications Consortium Media Center, where she promoted public and policymaker awareness of global population issues through the media. Ms. Sherk received her bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and earned her master’s degree in public health from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
