Alice F. Cartwright is a Senior Research Scientist at the Guttmacher Institute, which she joined in 2023. Her research focuses on access to contraception and abortion, in the United States and globally. She has research expertise in medication abortion, new contraceptive technologies, self-care in sexual and reproductive health, and social determinants of health.
Dr. Cartwright received her PhD in maternal and child health with a minor in population studies from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; her MPH in health and social behavior from the University of California, Berkeley; and her BA in sociology with a minor in feminist and gender studies from Haverford College.
