Position summary

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, the Development Associate will provide essential support in all aspects of the Institute’s institutional fundraising efforts, with a particular emphasis on supporting current funder engagement and stewardship. 

Responsibilities
  • Maintain schedule of grant proposals, payments and report due dates
  • Assist with fulfilling requirements for proposals, budgets and supporting documentation
  • Carry out post-grant award tasks such as preparing acknowledgements for donors and updating Salesforce with grant details
  • Serve as primary grants team liaison with finance for payment reconciliation and finance reports
  • Manage no-cost extension requests project in Asana
  • Lead the donor recognition process, including liaising with programmatic staff and donor agency representatives as needed
  • Assist with preparation of reports for the Board of Directors, and with presentations to the Board and external audiences (e.g., conference speaking engagements)
  • Support Senior Development Manager with all aspects of donor stewardship program
  • Schedule internal and external meetings and assist with meeting preparation and minutes when needed
  • Maintain print and electronic files for the institutional fundraising team
  • Make travel arrangements for Senior Development staff
  • Prepare expense reports and invoices
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications and skills
  • 2 years of related experience working in development/fundraising roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, responsibility and good judgment in performing tasks and in handling confidential information.
  • Highly developed communication and organizational skills with careful attention to detail, and ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest or experience in social sciences and/or reproductive health, rights, and justice a plus.
Salary and benefits

The salary range for this position is between $64,500 to $96,700 and will be commensurate with experience. This range is specific to the New York and DC area, but base pay may vary depending on a wide range of factors. New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on knowledge, skills and experience, and qualifications. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer. This is a Union represented position. The Guttmacher Institute practices a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance 8 days per month at our NYC location.
